Basic Function:As the lead position, installs and maintains gas meters, regulators, appliances and other gas equipment, turns gas on and off at customer’s request’ responds to both routine and emergency requests for gas service. Responsible for providing timely and professional customer service by responding to service orders. Acts as the lead position in a skill/experience based pay system. Representative Duties and Responsibilities:• Read meters and operate in the Automated Dispatch system for transferring and turning off customer premises. • Performs meter inspections and paints as needed to maintain compliance with atmospheric corrosion.• Sets gas meters, pressure-regulating devices, security/testing devices, etc., connects gas lines installed by distribution crews to lines from customer premises.• Connects and disconnects gas service, manually turning meters on and off.• Using leak detectors as well as natural senses (e.g., smell), locates gas leaks, decides on appropriate action and performs necessary repairs, documenting actions taken.• Performs and documents scheduled inspections and maintenance of gas equipment such as meters, regulators, safety devices, etc.• Conducts and documents complete investigations of customer premises in response to questionable gas consumption (e.g. high bill complaints, stopped meters, etc.) or other issues. Interacts with customers to answer questions, explain work performed, give instructions for operation of appliances, and promote gas usage.• Performs other duties as assigned.Must be physically able to stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift weights in excess of 100 pounds. Ability to occasionally ascend and descend stairs and ladders is required. Must also have keen senses of smell, hearing, vision and color identification. Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required. 

Position Requirements
Education and Experience:Required:•High school diploma or GED equivalent. •Must pass the Field Service Representative “II” exam. •Must meet all requirements of an Field Service Rep “I”. •Must be able to make repairs to 5/8" plastic services. •Must be able to read and write; have a valid driver's license and pass DOT and Company driving tests; minimum of 18 years of age.Skills:Required:• Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan AGLR Success Factors:Executing for Results Collaboration and Building Relationships Learning and Thinking Industry Knowledge/Business Acumen AGL Resources is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer, M/F/D/V.
